Title: NRG meeting: Traceroute measurements vs Load Balance
Presenter: Larissa Spinelli
Traceroute is widely used from diagnosis of networks to inference of
Internet maps. However, inferring Internet’s router-level topology using
trace-routers is susceptible to inferring false links when a load-balancing
router is crossed. This presentation covers two publications related to
this problem: "Measuring Load-balanced Paths in the Internet" which
proposes a methodology to identify load-balancing routers and characterizes
load-balanced paths, and "Measured Impact of Crooked Traceroute" that
examines inaccuracies induced by false inferences.
