Please join the Hariri Institute for Computing on Monday April 10th, 2017 for a Center for Computational Science (CSS) colloquium. The talk will be given by Alexandre Tartakovsky, Laboratory Fellow and Team Lead in the Computational Science and Mathematics Division at the Pacific Northwest National Laboratory. Tartakovsky will present a novel non-local mesoscale model for multiphase flow, and discuss grid-based and meshless discretizations of the resulting stochastic partial differential equations. His research uses multi-disciplinary approaches and methods used from other areas such as hydrology, computational physics, chemical engineering, and mathematics.

Keywords: computational fluid dynamics, multiphase flow, stochastic partial differential equations, multiscale modeling, molecular-scale features, macroscale behaviors
