Hi Chris,

Exciting new funding opportunity for BU faculty! Would you be able to send the below message and attached RFP docs to the CS faculty list serve?

Thanks!
Katie

Email Subject: New Funding Opportunity: data privacy/consumer personalization/user control research

Greetings!

The Hariri Institute for Computing is excited to announce a new funding opportunity made possible by a brand-new collaboration between BU and the Honda Research Institute (HRI)<http://www.bu.edu/hic/research/highlighted-sponsored-projects/bu-hri-collaboration/>. Facilitated through the Center for Reliable Information Systems & Cyber Security (RISCS), the collaboration brings together BU faculty and students with HRI scientists and engineers around topics of interest that include data privacy, consumer personalization, and user control.

As an initial component of the collaboration, the attached RFP seeks multi-disciplinary proposals that explore the design and application of assistance systems that intelligently adapt and personalize their support to human operators, while at the same time protecting users’ privacy and aiding them in maintaining control of their personal data.

We encourage you to forward the RFP to other BU researchers who may be interested in the call; however please do not forward to external contacts at this time. The agreement has just recently been finalized, and official publicity of the collaboration is forthcoming.

Researchers/research teams who are interested in the RFP should send initial ideas both to Mayank Varia (varia at bu.edu<mailto:varia at bu.edu>) and Jens Schmuedderich (jens.schmuedderich at honda-ri.de<mailto:jens.schmuedderich at honda-ri.de>); this will allow for timely feedback to ensure proposal ideas are well-aligned with the call.

Please contact Mayank Varia (varia at bu.edu<mailto:varia at bu.edu>) with any questions.
