Hello Everyone,

Just a quick reminder to sign up for a time for your office to become certified if you have not already done so! I have attached the spreadsheets they use to certify offices so you can get an idea of what they will be looking for.

I will try to send everyone a reminder email the day before you are signed up to be certified. Our first group is tomorrow!

Please let me know if you have any questions.

Hello Everyone,

Thank you all for coming today and learning about our new sustainability initiative! If you did not yet get your ceramic mug, we have extras in the front office (room 138).

If you have not done so already, please sign up for a time to have someone come from Sustainability at BU to certify your office. A digital calendar can be found here. I have already filled in everyone who signed up today, but please let me know if you see another slot that would work better for you.

As I mentioned, CAS has not taken much initiative in the Green Office Certification – you can see this in the graph below (CAS is second-to-last). We have a great opportunity here to be leaders in this area and to set a great example for other CAS departments!

More information about our initiative will be coming in the following weeks. If you have any questions, please don’t hesitate to reach out.

Dear Staff and Faculty (including Instructors, Research Faculty, and Affiliated Faculty):

Please join us for our monthly department lunch tomorrow (Wednesday) - come chat with colleagues, and enjoy food from El Pelon in Brighton. Time is noon, location is MCS 148.

In addition, Christian will describe the department-wide sustainability initiative that we will launch under his leadership. We will have Department of Computer Science mugs for everyone to help curb the use of paper cups for coffee and other beverages. In addition, we will have a sign-up sheet for you to choose a day and time for Sustainability at BU to come by and certify your office if you choose. You may have noticed new bins around the building for recycling – these are also a part of our new initiative! More information on our departmental status and goals will follow in the coming weeks.
