MIT is hosting another hardware hackathon this year and we may want to
organize a team. Email linus at bu.edu or see me in person to make your
interest known and we'll see about putting a team together. They ran a
great event last year and we had a lot of fun. The information is below.

MakeMIT (http://makemit.org) is a hardware hackathon that is taking place
on Saturday, February 28, 2015. We’re providing materials and resources for
200+ college hackers to create, design, prototype, and present their ideas.
The following weekend, top teams will be invited back for more hacking
directed at making those ideas a reality with access to a full machine
shop.

Who can come? Any undergraduate passionate about hardware, hacking, and
making things. All skill levels welcome! Students just need to make sure to
register here (deadline: 2/6/15, 11:59 PM EST) and remember that spots are
limited.

When is the event?
Phase I: February 28th from 8:00AM - 2:30 AM
Phase II: March 7th from 9:00AM - 7:00PM (invite only)

Where: Lobdell Hall, MIT Student Center

Why should people come? MakeMIT provides food and drinks, and, of course, a
plethora of materials and tools to hack with.

How does the event work? Over the course of 18 hours, teams of 3-5 students
will be given the materials, resources, and space to brainstorm, design,
and build/hack a product. The product can be anything: proof of concept,
prototype, looks-like-works-like model, simulation, CAD renderings, etc.

At the end of the hacking period, each team will present their idea for a
chance to win prizes. The top teams will be invited back for Phase II
during which they will be provided with machine shop access and more
materials to iterate upon their hack.

Once again, students should register at www.makemit.org before registration
closes February 6, 2015 at 11:59 PM EST.
