SO MANY HACKATHONS! Which one to attend? It conflicts with the first day of
HAMR on the 27th. HAMR goes on for 2 more days, but this hackathon goes on
for months, apparently? ...
choices, choices...

We will be talking this over at the *MACHINE LEARNING MEETUP TOMORROW AT 3*.

See Click Predict Fix - Hackathon Announcement September 27,
2013

Save the date! You're invited. We are organizing not one but two exciting
competitions: a 24-hour hackathon followed by a deeper, two-month dive. On
the evening of September 27, we will convene at Microsoft San Francisco
(835 Market St Ste 700, San Francisco, CA). The purpose of the competition
is to quantify and predict how citizens will react to a specific 311 issue.
Come see, predict, and fix by working with actual city data on real city
problems.

What makes an issue urgent? What do citizens really care about? How much
does location matter? Being able to forecast the most pressing 311 topics
will allow governments to focus their efforts on fixing the most important
problems.

Those outside the Bay Area can participate online in the hackathon and also
in the ensuing longer competition. If you are more interested in using the
data for visualization or "non-predictive" data mining, we have arranged
for a $500 visualization prize.

if
you plan to attend.

We hope to see you there, or online!
